A celebration of architectural achievement, combining form and function in a harmonious and aesthetic union, the Palais can accommodate large-scale conventions and exhibitions while staging two major events simultaneously.
To create a Palais open to the world, its city, and its people, the architectural concept of the Palais focuses on the aspects of light and transparency with the use of three times more glassed surface area. As a result, at any given time, the Palais and its city appear as an integrated whole. From the interior, one can view the pulse and activity of a vibrant city. Visible from the exterior are glimpses of the daily stream of activities at this center for exchange and communication. The desired transparency is best articulated through the immense facade whose colored glass panels create an interplay of light and colour, like a stained glass window, producing an iridescent effect both inside and outside the building. During the day, it is the array of colors that predominates, while the dark of night brings out its transparency.
The Palais is located at the heart of not one, but four city districts. From the Palais des congrès, visitors can easily access the Quartier international, Chinatown, the downtown business core or Old Montréal. Visitors heading to the Palais will find themselves at the very center of a bustling and animated downtown, only a five-minute walk from some 12,000-hotel rooms in a safe and friendly environment. Take the subway, drive or walk Thanks to its strategic location, the Palais is easily accessible whatever the mode of transport: walk outdoors or use the underground pedestrian networks in downtown Montréal, take the subway to Place-d'Armes métro station or drive. The Palais offers ample parking nearby.
