The jury announces its decision for the stands design competition
The award-winning designs will be exhibited at VETECO 2006, which will take place at Feria de Madrid between 10th and 13th May next With these awards, IFEMA and the College of Architects of Madrid aim to promote ephemeral architecture
Last 2nd February the Jury announced its decision for the awards of the Third Stands Design Competition, which took place at IFEMA, the body that organizes the competition in collaboration with the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM. This initiative is staged within the framework of the tenth edition of the International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show, VETECO 2006, which will take place between 10th and 13th May 2006, at Feria de Madrid. In total, 36 ideas were presented by the architects competing for the stands of the 9 exhibitors that joined this initiative. The exhibiting companies are now committed to building the stand they are going to present at the fair in accordance with the project presented by the winning architect. During the course of VETECO, a guided visit will be organised of all the stands that have entered the Competition. These stands will all have an explanatory panel. The high quality of the entries at this edition meant that, in addition to the awards themselves, the Jury also granted a number of honourable mentions:
Blaya: Prize: "Corte Vertical y Horizontal", by Ana Stakic (collegiated in the Barcelona COA). Honourable Mention: "Anatomía de una ola", by Pedro Magro de la Plaza (Madrid). Honourable Mention: "Un objeto es una sección", by Alfredo Baladrón Carrizo (Madrid).
Geze Iberia: Prize: "Geze Experience" by Paolo Caleo and Carlos Piantino (Madrid).
Gismero: Prize: "La gata sobre el tejado de Zinc" by Virginia Sambade Varela (Madrid).
Nervión: Prize: "La ventana indiscreta", by Emma Esteban Polo (Madrid). Honourable Mention: "Metal on Metal", by Pedro Martín García (Madrid)
Persianas Hernando: Prize: "Luar", by Lucía Fernández Galarza (Madrid). Honourable Mention: "Catálogo 1:1", by Elena Saiz Báscones and Pablo del Ser Bartolomé (Madrid).
Quilosa: Prize: "Catálogo 1:1", by Elena Saiz Báscones and Pablo del Ser Bartolomé (Madrid).
Récord Elemat: Prize: "26 Instantes", by Javier Gómez Prada (Madrid).
Vitro Cristalglass: Prize "El vidrio no es un cristal", by Juan José Mateos Bermejo and Camila Aviar Rodríguez (Madrid). Honourable Mention: "Translusiones", by Patricia Arroyo Serrano, José Luis Lleó Oliver and Leyre Octavio de Toledo Rodríguez (Madrid). Honourable Mention: "Frame", by Ángel Luis Fernández Campos and Mª Dolores Sánchez Moya (Madrid). The Jury was made up of the following members: José Mª García del Monte, Head of the Competitions Department at the College of Architects of Madrid and the architect Gonzalo Moure Lorenzo, appointed by OCAM; Santiago Quiroga, the Head of VETECO, and Manuel Mostaza, from IFEMA's Technical Department; two of the award-winners at previous editions of the Competition, Miguel Ubarrechena Asenjo (an award-winner at CONSTRUTEC 2004) and Esther Jiménez Herráiz (four awards and an honourable mention at OFITEC 2006) respectively, and a representative of each of the participating exhibitors.
