Trafic 2007: News

Trafic will incorporate a number of important new features at its tenth edition IFEMA stages between 2nd and 5th October the International Road Safety and Equipment Exhibition The International Road Safety and Equipment Exhibition, TRAFIC, is progressing with the organisation of its tenth edition, which is due to take place at Feria de Madrid between 2nd and 5th October. The fair, which has already surpassed the exhibition area recorded at the last edition, will incorporate a number of important new features aimed at strengthening its international dimension, as well as boosting its role as a forum for promoting and disseminating the latest technological advances within the sector.

The progressive development that TRAFIC has enjoyed has coincided with the growth of the road safety and equipment sector in recent years, a sector that has invested strongly in technological innovation and in developing an increasingly extensive, modern, safe and well-equipped road network. In this respect, TRAFIC, the only fair that has been able to combine the attendance and interests of two areas as closely connected as road safety and road equipment, has grown alongside the industry, based on a progressive increase in all its figures, such as the number and stature of the participating companies, the volume and qualifications of its trade visitors and an increasingly large exhibition area. Precisely in order to cater for the fair's growth, TRAFIC will move to Hall 3 at this edition, a larger venue than its previous location, thus enabling the organisers to cater for exhibitor demand.

Promotional Campaign and Foreign Buyers
With a view to boosting the trade profile at TRAFIC, the fair has planned a range of different measures, including the promotional mailings carried out in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) aimed at important members of various administration bodies: mayors, heads of provincial delegations, traffic departments, transport advisors and heads, etc. This initiative will not be limited to a national scope either, also being aimed at public representatives in Portugal, a country for which TRAFIC, due to its geographic and social proximity, represents an excellent opportunity to discover the latest international advances under the headings of road safety and road equipment.

Furthermore, the fair will once again stage its Foreign Buyers Programme, in which respect invitations have been dispatched to important public figures in various countries connected to the fields of road safety and road infrastructures. On this occasion, the main focus will be on representatives from the recently incorporated countries of the European Union, as well as from the markets of the Southern United States, in collaboration with AMECURBIS and with the sponsorship of the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute (ICEX).

Press Day and the International Media
On 2nd October the fair will organise a Press Day to follow on from the TRAFIC INFORMA Forum, which was set up in 2005 and in which more than twenty exhibitors were offered the opportunity to present their newest and most innovative products to the media. Within the framework of these events, and with a view to boosting the international coverage and projection of the fair, TRAFIC will also organise a Guest Press Programme, which will bring together a carefully selected range of specialised media from Europe.

Specialised Conferences and Trade Meetings
TRAFIC will also provide the setting for a number of interesting Specialised Conferences and Trade Meetings, events that have been designed to complement the fair's commercial dimension. In this respect, preparations are being made for the staging of a Conference on Mobility, organised by Madrid City Council, a body that will play an especially active role at this edition of the fair, both through the presentation of this conference and through its general participation at the event as a whole.

The Entire Industry Comes Together at TRAFIC
One of the most important aspects at TRAFIC throughout the history of the event has been the growing participation of the public and private sectors at the fair, thus reflecting the strong commitment on the part of public administration and private companies when it comes to achieving a road network that is increasingly safe, efficient and extensive, as well as their desire to apply new technologies within the field. A good example of this commitment is provided by the renewed support that the Spanish State Traffic Department (DGT) and the Spanish Road Department (DGC) have provided to TRAFIC in their capacity as the fair's promoters, as well as the presence of the main associations and representatives from the industry on the fair's Organising Committee: ACEX (The Association of Infrastructure Preservation and Exploitation Companies); AEC (The Spanish Road Association); AEGA (The Spanish Car-Parks and Garages Association); AETEC (The Association of Road Equipment Technology Studios); AFASEMETRA (The Association of Metal Traffic Sign Manufacturers); AIMPE (The Association of Municipal and Provincial Engineers of Spain); AMEC URBIS (The Spanish Association of Urban Equipment ); ANFAC (The National Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers); ANFALUM (The National Association of Lighting Manufacturers); ASEFACOL (The Spanish Association of Lighting Pillar and Column Manufacturers); ASETA (The Association of Spanish Motorway, Tunnel, Bridge and Toll-Road Management Companies); ATC (The Road

Technical Association); FEMP (The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces); PEMTRA (The Traffic Company Employers' Association), and SIMEPROVI (The Association of Metallic Road Protection System Manufacturers).
