The Box
A Luxury Showcase in a Black Box
The accessory - object of every temptation – is now collected as some form of cult figure. Shoes, bags, belts and jewellery are the stars of the catwalk and precious and indispensable for our lifestyles. They sign a silhouette, finishing its look. « More than just an accessory, it’s a look », announces the latest Jérôme Dreyfuss handbag catalogue. Carried along by its « addict » image and a constantly renewed creativity, the accessory sector is growing: -with an export turnover of 2.07 billion euros, the leather goods trade rose 13.71% in 2005. - a rise of 17.61% for costume jewellery, with 199.1 million euros of export in 2005 (source: Ubifrance, data: GTA). With THE BOX, PRÊT À PORTER PARIS® responds to a demand by creative, up-market labels, seeking a specific, privileged exhibition space. A demand echoed by the 43,000 international visitors who expressed in the September 2005 post-trade fair suvey, a desire to see assembled a highly selective offer, corresponding to the demands of our time: 32% of the trade fair’s visitors seek fashion accessories. Costume jewellery is in good form in France: - increased sales for the 12th consecutive year - jewellery sales passing from 55 million pieces in 2001 to 64 million in 2004, of which 42% was costume jewellery. - a turnover of 137 million euros for costume jewellery over the 100 euro mark (cpdhbjo- source Société 5).
