All of the keys to textile fashion for autumn-winter 2007/08 at the forthcoming edition of Textilmoda
The main lines for the new season, elaborated by Nelly Rodi for the fair, are structured around four themes. Thriller Glamour and Soft Gothic will introduce a type of fashion based on a search for a more rigorous perfection and elegance, whilst Precious Forest and Cosy Pop will present styles full of imagination and handcrafted savoir faire.
Between 27th and 29th September, Madrid will become a grand showcase for the textiles sector in Spain with the staging of the eleventh edition of TEXTILMODA, the International Textile Fashion Show, organised by IFEMA. Faithful to its date with clothes manufacturers and fashion designers, at this edition the fair will present the most significant trends for Autumn-Winter 2007/08 in Hall 2 at Feria de Madrid. One of the aspects of greatest appeal at TEXTILMODA is its ongoing promotion of a fashion concept, one that is reflected in all of the products on show at the event. Within this context, the Trends Forum, organised in collaboration with the French style studio, Nelly Rodi, will once again be one of the star features at the fair. The Forum will exhibit more than 1,000 real samples of textiles and adornments presented by the exhibiting companies, both Spanish and foreign, enabling professionals to discover the latest trends in textures, patterns and colours for Winter 2007. As a new feature, the Forum will change location at this edition, moving to the connecting-area between Halls 2 and 4, alongside IBERPIEL MARROQUINERÍA. This new location means that all exhibitors at SIPIEL, brought together at the MODACALZADO and IBERPIEL MARROQUINERIA exhibitions, will also be able to visit the Trends Forum on 29th September. SIPIEL will be staged until 1st October in Halls 4, 6, 8, 9 at 10 at the Feria de Madrid. Trends Presented within Four Wide-Ranging Themes The trends elaborated by Nelly Rodi are structured around four themes, which will play a leading role during the first and second halves of the season. Over the first part of the season, the themes Thriller Glamour and Soft Gothic will be characterised by an haute couture spirit, based on a more rigorous search for perfection and elegance. The second part of the season will be much freer, full of imagination and imbued with handcrafted ´savoir faire´. This style will be illustrated by the themes Precious Forest and Cosy Pop. These are new visions of an aesthetic concept that exists half-way between two worlds: glamour and fantasy. Soft Gothic Here we will find a predominant use of velvet, wool and lace. The textiles will create a romantic, Gothic and highly spiritual image. As far as patterns are concerned, flowers and stained-glass window designs will abound, along with architectural patterns (arches, vaults, stained-glass windows,...) and jacquards. The clothing items presented under this trend will offer a highly light and airy image, featuring highly-worked shoulders and extra-large cuffs. Shades such as grey, green and blue will predominate. We will also come across touches of sandy shades. This style is fresh, fluid and sensual, creating a sense of pure glamour, as reflected by an imagined paradise. Thriller Glamour This trend will opt for the most elegant textiles: muslin, taffeta and silk, adorned with lace and ribbons. These fabrics will offer a splendid sense of beauty, one that is nevertheless versatile, created both for evening-wear as well as for daily enjoyment. The colours will be contrasting: light shades - white, pearl grey and natural - against dark shades - black, violet, plum and red. The clothing items that predominate in this trend remind us o f the leading characters in Hitchcock films: highly sexy tube dresses, tailored jackets, and the indisputable star item of the season: the cocktail dress reaching down to the knee. The textiles will be full of patterns: spots, camellias, motifs relating to a casino ambience (poker cards, etc.), checks and blurred stripes. Cosy Pop Combinations of materials and contrasts are updated with new ideas in cotton, wool, linen and hemp. Under this heading we find some of the most daring and amusing ideas. A hymn to the home, sweet home. Everything appears to be handmade. The patterns will be ornamental: flowers, stripes, spots and images inspired by Communism and 1970´s pop. The most popular clothing items will be very wide jackets, tunic blouses, woollen shawls and kilts. The colours will boast a neutral and highly relaxed appeal, based on combinations of white with navy blue and toasted brown shades, complemented by touches of violet, purple and green. Precious Forest Nature will emerge strongly in this trend, featuring a predominant use of plant fibres, linen, hemp, bamboo and wool, always within the context of an elegant style that also offers a rustic touch. The patterns include natural motifs - leaves, trees, flowers - and drawings of animals taken from fairy-tale stories. The most popular clothing items will include parkers and coats. Plant-like colours will play the leading role, along with golden shades and grey, creating a magical ambience. TEXTILMODA will be open from 9.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. throughout its entire duration, except for the last day of the fair when it will close its doors at 6.00 p.m.
