Sicur 08: Albatros – Ziegler Group: Tow truck with High Pressure Equipment

Sicur 08: The Albatros Group was one of the companies chosen for the Gallery of New Products at SICUR 2008. The award-winning product is a tow truck that incorporates a high pressure extinction motor pump, at 250 Bar, as well as accessories for this equipment.

It is designed for extinguishing small fires or for an initial stifling of large fires while waiting for the action of large units, as it has a 330-litre capacity water tank, made in polyester reinforced with fibre glass.

The Albatros Ziegler equipment is suitable for being used by a single person and it allows the fire to be attacked in three steps: first, starting to put the fire out from a long distance and approach to it, selecting the long distance jet mode; once closer to the fire, the extinction in spray mode is used with the lance nozzle suitable for this, providing cooling and extinction; finally, the fire is covered with foam, to ensure that the fire does not revive due to the entry of oxygen.

Amongst other advantages, the tow truck with high pressure equipment chosen by the Gallery of New Products at SICUR 2008, works with a maximum pressure of 250 Bar and a flow of 25 litres. The result: an efficient extinction with low water consumption; an important point since the small tow truck or pick up type vehicles have a very limited water-storage capacity.

Another advantage is the high pressure, shooting micro-drops of water and generating water spray that reduces the energy of the fire as it reduces its temperature. Finally, the equipment has an extinction lance with three different effects: long distance jet, spray and foam, all selected by rotating the handle of the gun.
