Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2008: A Cosmit Great Event: Leonardo’s Last Supper by Peter Greenaway

Salone Internazionale del Mobile 08: Once again, on the occasion of the Saloni, Cosmit will pay homage to the city of Milan with an event of international calibre, conjugating business with culture as befits its own ethos. Business and culture is the formula that Cosmit has chosen and developed over the years, complementing the purely commercial event that is the Saloni with a mind-blowing cultural event of great consequence.

This formula has proved to be a winning one for the commercial operators’ followers and all those who play an active role in the world of design.

The collateral events accompanying the Salone Internazionale del Mobile made their first appearance many years ago, dating right back to 1965, when the “Retrospective Exhibition Documenting Furniture Design in Italy from 1945 to the Present Day” was held – to put the spotlight on a new pavilion entirely devoted to the most design-conscious manufacturers, which was to turn out to be one of the aces in the product exhibition pack.

Since then, a great many exhibitions have focused on and paid tribute to Italy’s productive identity, the story of the great Masters of design, and the alliance between design, art, fashion and food, exploring all the cross-connecting strands, in countless different ways.

The great event planned for the 2008 edition of the Saloni, an astonishing perspective on Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper conceived by Peter Greenaway, will breathe life into a multimedia event of tremendous emotional moment, in an extraordinary vocabulary mix that will include art, cinema, poetry, music and state of the art technology.
