Good prospects for the next edition of SIMM. More than 830 exhibitors confirmed

The new edition of the LATINOAMÉRICAFASHION Show will consist of one collective fashion show and five individual ones.

The contest is preparing a• complete transformation which will be brought about in September 2007.
The 57th edition of the Madrid International Fashion Fair (SIMM) is being launched amid good prospects. For this particular edition, that will take place between February 16 and February 18 in Feria de Madrid, 832 companies from all over the world have already confirmed their participation, the net exhibition area exceeding 33,500 square metres. Forecasts anticipate that, eventually, the number of direct exhibitors will be again above the 1,000 labels and that the net area to be occupied will be close to 35,000 square metres.

Throughout those three days, the professionals attending SIMM will be able to make a complete grand tour of the cutting-edge of fashion, in addition to getting first-hand knowledge of the men’s and women’s fashion, fur and accessory collections, which will set the trend during the coming 2007/08 Autumn-Winter season. The companies that have already confirmed their participation at SIMM includes, among others, Blue Ribbon, Guerral, Elio Berhanyer, Elisa Cortés, Fuentecapala, Naulover, Montoto, Selvatgi, Monreal y Mercader, Alexandra Plata, Flamenco, Lola Casademunt, Andrés Sardá, Montesinos and Gerry Weber .

Likewise, SIMM will be pleased to have again among its exhibitors the Artistic Association of Spanish National Fashion Designers (ADÑ), whose membership includes renowned Spanish designers such as Antonio Alvarado, Ion Fiz, Locking Shocking, Carlos Díez, Juanjo Oliva, Rocabert, Carmen March and La Casita de Wendy. In addition, as it happens in each February edition, SIMM shall play host to the IBERPIEL PELETERÍA Fair, in which sector companies of long standing like Benetfurs, Araujo Piel, Corty Bennett, J&M, José Gómez Benet or Makari, to name only a few, will present their collections.

The next edition of SIMM will keep its usual structure organized by halls: ESPACIO HOMBRE; ÍNTIMA MODA BAÑO; IBERPIEL PELETERÍA; BOUTIQUE –Trend, Class and Evolution-, top brands; ESPACIO CIBELES; Y+, top-design accessories; LA GALERIA, top-selling brands; IMAGENMODA, middle-range style; CIEN X CIEN, casual and young fashion; INTERMODA, prêt-a-porter fashion, and PLATAFORMA JÓVENES DISEÑADORES, the future talent of national and international design.
Fourth Edition of the LatinoAméricaFashion Show

SIMM remains firmly committed to making Latin American fashion known by means of the LatinoAméricaFashion show. The purpose of this project, launched in September 2005, was and still is to join the best avant-garde Latin design, through a selection of high-profile designers already having an interesting career in their countries of origin, with a view to introducing them to the European market.

The fourth edition of LatinoAméricaFashion will take place in February 17 and 18, in a catwalk located at IFEMA’s pavilion 1. The foreseen programme will include a collective fashion show by designers from Portugal, Colombia and Argentina, plus five individual shows by designers from Colombia, México, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina.

High-quality fashion and new approaches for September 2007

SIMM is already working on a new sectorization and a new trade-fair model to be launched in September 2007. By then, the show will boast a complete renewal, an important evolution, to give a response to the continuous transformations the fashion and clothing industry is going through all over the world. The changes will affect both its structure and its overall image, bringing forward a younger, more up-to-date and more attractive fashion concept, although its professional nature will not be altered.

The fashion business in SIMM

The previous edition of SIMM, held between September 1 and September 3, 2006, was attended by 877 companies from 20 countries, which did put on display the 2007 Spring-Summer collections created by more than 1,440 brands. The Fair occupied a net exhibition area close to 32,000 square metres. As
regards the presence of professionals, there were more than 19,380 buyers, a 13% increase over the previous year. The number of foreign visitors, which grew by 20%, deserves special mention. All these figures confirmed again the great role played by SIMM in the international circuit of professional fashion shows.

SIMM is a part of the MADRID INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK, the great framework encompassing all fashion events organized by IFEMA. An environment which also includes PASARELA CIBELES, the stage for the promotion of Spanish design in the world; EGO DE PASARELA CIBELES, for young fashion talent; SIPIEL, the International Leather Week, with MODACALZADO and IBERPIEL MARROQUINERIA Fairs, and TEXTILMODA, the International Clothing Textile Fair.
