Excellent results recorded at SICUR 2006
The fair recorded an increase of 11.07% in the number of visitors and of 6.56% in the business participation
Significant presence of Latin-American buyers at this edition
With final attendance figures rising to 37,358 trade visitors, the 15th edition of SICUR, the International Safety and Security Fair, staged between 21st and 24th February, brought together at FERIA DE MADRID, the greatest offer from the Integral Safety and Security sector, featuring the participation of 585 direct exhibitors and 839 represented companies.
These figures, which include increases of 11.07% in the number of professionals and 6.56% in terms of business attendance, confirm the capacity of this event to attract members of the industry. In this respect, SICUR has consolidated its role as one of the most important points of reference on the European calendar of fairs for the sector. The SICUR exhibition, which measured a total of 34,086 square metres (a 17.9% increase compared to the last edition) presented a complete overview of the latest advances in equipment, solutions and services within the various safety and security fields represented at the fair. This competitive range of products and services was clearly based on aspects such as innovation and the application of new technologies, as well as a general recognition of the value of safety and security as a means of boosting economic growth and enhancing quality of life.
In addition to the overall figures, we must highlight the significant increase in the participation of the three wide-ranging sections of the fair at SICUR 2006. In this respect, the fair featured increases of 23.3% in the Safety at Work area, 19.7% in the Fire Safety and 7.1% in Security.
Regarding the attendance of professionals, the results of this edition strengthen the large territorial scope of the fair. At a national level, 50.8% of SICUR's visitors came from outside Madrid, with a strong attendance of visitors from all Spanish provinces.
And at an international level, the fair welcome 2,460 trade visitors from 66 countries with a great presence (10%) of Latin-American buyers.
Coinciding with the trade exhibition, SICUR 2006 was also the setting chosen by the main associations and bodies from the industry to stage a wide-ranging Programme of Specialized Conferences, trade meetings and demonstrations, all of which focused on highly topical aspects relating to all areas of safety and security. The Conferences and roundtables, as well as the area set aside for the Gallery of New Features and the rescue manoeuvres organised by the Department for Civil Emergencies and Protection and the Madrid Council Fire-Fighting Department, attracted the interest of numerous visitors, creating a forum for information and training that had some strong reverberations within the various professionals areas connected to the world of safety and security.
SICUR 2006 was inaugurated on the morning of 21st February by the Second Vice president and Counsellor for Justice and Home Affairs of the Madrid Region, Alfredo Prada.
