SICI 2005, the Integral Kitchen Exhibition, which took place between 18th and 22nd October in Feria de Madrid, closed its doors with a participation figure of 17,367 visitors and an excellent results balance. For the first time this event was not linked to the Madrid International Furniture Exhibition. It also registered its highest participation and occupation ever. It had the direct participation of 112 exhibitors and an exhibition area of 20,462 square metres.

SICI 2005 brought together the main Spanish manufacturers and distributors, as well as an outstanding participation from high-class international brands from Italy, France and Portugal. The presence of foreign companies made up 17.8 % of the total, which highlights the power of SICI as one of the most outstanding points of reference in the European circuit of trade fairs within the sector.

Another of the facts that shows SICI´s its international status are the 785 foreign buyers mainly from Portugal, Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, as well as Spain and Portugal, and South America with Mexico and Argentina in the lead, followed by Canada and the United States.

Looking at these figures we must highlight the success of the exhibition¡¦s promotion campaign abroad carried out together with IFEMA´s delegations and the Programme of International Buyers, promoted by IFEMA, ICEX and AMC.

As regards where the Spanish visitors came from, after Madrid, with 26.8% of the total, the Spanish Regions with the highest number of professionals were Andalusia, with 11.7%; Catalonia, with 9.2%; Castille - León, with 8.6%; Galicia, with 7.2% and the Basque Country, with 6.4%.

For five days SICI presented the latest trends and technological innovations in the kitchen furniture and integrated household goods sector. The event, which is organized by IFEMA and promoted by the Spanish Kitchen Furniture Manufacturers Association (AMC), has established itself as a highly professional forum for business, giving supply and demand an excellent working environment. The high quality of the content and new ideas and the generally careful presentation of the exhibiting companies, back SICI´s potential as a driving force of the commercial activity in this industry.

Trends

Wood and stainless steel were the strong points in the latest decorative trends presented at SICI 2005. The new proposals also showed the predominance of lines in plain tones or combined with wood. In this respect, Aluminium, another of the star materials in this edition, showed a wide range of aesthetic possibilities in perfect harmony with oak, cherry tree wood, walnut wood and, sometimes, with semi-opaque glass. One of the novelties we must underline is the recent incorporation of tropical woods such as wengué, ebony or mongoy, which coordinate perfectly with neutral colours, black or white. Finally, as regards finishes, lacquers brought an unmistakable touch of modernity and variety of colours.

The next edition of SICI will take place between 16th and 20th October 2007.
