Maestre will bring innovation and design to classical furniture

The Maestre project has set itself the task of adapting classical furniture to the new lifestyles. This is a nationwide initiative that is being launched at Habitat Valencia Forward, the umbrella brand for the Valencia International Furniture Fair (FIM), the International Decoration and Accessories Fair (DE>CO) and the International Lighting Fair (FIAM), which are set to take place at Feria Valencia from 18th to 23rd September. Maestre will show an exclusive collection of projects related to the living environment in which tradition blends with development and both are bound strongly together by refined quality.

The project aims to narrow the gap between what furniture manufacturers offer the market and what customers are really demanding, which is technological advances, quality, service, design and innovation.  The classical furniture industry has a long history as is endorsed by the edistence of manufacturers that produce very high quality, unique and carefully crafted pieces.  This is however furniture that overwhelms the public, who find it difficult to connect with its anachronistic motifs.  What Maestre is seeking to do is resolve this dichotomy, by blending the values of contemporary design into the sophisticated production systems to create products that offer high quality and reflect great creativity, thereby delivering a new offering of top of the range models onto the market
The country’s best designers have been called upon to help achieve this objective and they have contributed their experience, knowledge of trends and expertise.  They have worked with manufacturers of clasical furniture that understand and mix both new and traditional techniques and materials – a curious combination that up until now has been a rarity in the marketplace.
The Maestre project is being driven by the Spanish Confederation of Woodworking Businesses, CONFEMADERA, and the Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Enterprises, FEDERMUEBLE, which has also launched initiatives directly related to innovation such as Domus Mediterránea 06 and I+Madera.  Approximately 120 Spanish companies in the wood and furniture industry have engaged in these three projects, working to introduce innovations in all aspects of their businesses.  All three schemes are represented at Habitat Valencia Forward and each will show how they intend to make technology and cutting edge design an integral part of projects related to the living environment and the home.
