Intergift and Bisutex are more international than ever
The results and evaluation of this edition confirm the growing penetration of both fairs within the market and their excellent positioning on the international fair circuit.
A total of 92,755 professionals visited the fifty-first edition of International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week The fifty-first edition of International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week, which took place between 14th and 18th September at FERIA DE MADRID, closed its doors with some truly excellent results. A total of 92,755 professionals visited this edition, which once again revealed the event's growing penetration within the market, as well as the renewed capacity of its exhibiting companies to promote quality, innovation and design as key elements of their competitive performance. The Week, which is made up of three fairs, each with its own identity and each a leader within its respective industry, INTERGIFT, BISUTEX and IBERJOYA, brought together the products and services of more than 2,000 companies and presented the largest exhibition area in the event's history, some 104,456 net square metres. These figures confirm the status of this event, making this trade meeting with the consumer goods and household furnishings industry the largest of its kind in Spain. With regard to the breakdown of visitors according to fair, the organisers took into account the high degree of inter-connection between INTERGIFT and BISUTEX. The two fairs share the same distribution channels for a large number of their products and services, welcoming some 63,618 buyers. In the case of IBERJOYA, 29,137 visiting professionals were recorded. Another of the highly rated characteristics of both INTERGIFT and BISUTEX is their increasingly strong positioning on the international fair circuit. This much is reflected by the growing presence of exhibitors and buyers from abroad at these fairs. At this edition, direct participation on the part of foreign companies witnessed an increase of 12.8% at INTERGIFT and 37.93% at BISUTEX. Similarly, International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week as a whole was visited by more than 5,000 buyers from 79 countries, with Portugal accounting for 54% of foreign attendance, Italy 7.6% and France 5.6%. Other large groups of buyers attended the event from Germany, Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, from within Europe, and Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico from within the Latin American market. US buyers also attended the Week. In addition to the considerable volume of information and ideas and the large number of contacts that INTERGIFT offers professionals, another of the most important indicators highlighted by exhibiting companies is the fair's favourable impact on post-fair operations. The supply/demand communication channels established through INTERGIFT, not to mention the added value of direct contact, of product presentations, of greater product awareness and of company promotion all help to boost commercial activity over the months following the conclusion of the fair. The rich variety and plural nature of the INTERGIFT exhibition, as well as the diverse origin of the exhibitors, featuring the direct attendance of companies from the main Spanish production centres and from abroad, make this trade event the most comprehensive point of reference for products, trends and new features. This extraordinary event offers both visitors and exhibitors an inexhaustible source of information and a key forum for boosting demand. Broadly speaking, the exhibits on show at this edition focused mainly on the autumn and Christmas seasons. A series of elegant, warm and convenient lines also presented practical and functional qualities. . Alongside furniture and numerous auxiliary items, Intergift presented an infinite range of ideas under the headings of textiles, lighting, accessories, etc., all essential elements in transforming the home and creating a different ambience with a strong sense of identity. The maturity of this market requires constant innovation and new ideas, accompanied by good design and a favourable opportunity. This much was clear from judging the exhibiting companies participating in the extensive sections of INTERGIFT devoted to informal gifts, the imagination, promotional gifts, the world of licensing, toys, etc., which will once again surprise us with a series of original and highly quality and imaginative items. A Perfect Combination of Fashion Jewellery and Accessories at BISUTEX For its part, BISUTEX once again presented an innovative exhibition based on an extensive range of items designed in accordance with current trends and the new lines proposed by a number of important fashion designers for Autumn/Winter 2006 - 2007. The best Spanish manufacturers and importers, along with nearly 40 foreign companies and leading international brands, made up the exhibition at this fair, an event that, today, is considered to be the main monographic trade fair for fashion jewellery in Europe. The high levels of participation and the successful link that had been forged between fashion jewellery and accessories, based on the incorporation of stones, chains and numerous details on bags and other accessories, has helped to enrich an event that is of considerable interest to a growing group of professionals and establishments specialising in both segments. In addition to the thousands of ideas on show at the BISUTEX stands, this edition also presented a specific Trends Showcase, which, thanks to the advice and active participation of member companies on the fair's Organising Committee, featured all the designs, colours and items that will be playing a prominent role in next season's collections. Five items - a bag, a wallet, a necklace, a watch and a scarf - designed on a gigantic scale were created to present the design approach and the metallic finish of these products - bronze, silver and especially golden - for Autumn/Winter. The range of colours employed included grey, brown, very dark red, ink blue, beige, champagne and black shades. Other trends showed at the fair were fashion jewellery pieces made of silver, the designs with ethnic flavour, as well as the success of organic materials and semi-precious stones.
