We believe in choosing fashion with a conscience and a purpose. At the same time we want that style to be strong, sexy and provocative.
The name Kuyichi is derived from the Peruvian god of the rainbow. There is a legend that the rainbow god of the Taquile Indians became angry with the people and took all colors away from life. After introducing and perfecting the art of weaving beautiful blankets, the Indians were able to bring the colors of the rainbow to the world.
Kuyichi’s aim is to carry this positive attitude in the world. This principle is reflected in our logo, or sign. The circular shape symbolizing the world and the plus sign indicates positivity, adding and giving.
Our modern vision in fashion is integrated, but not compromised by our aim to stimulate durable economies in third world countries, such as Peru. We rise to the challenge of developing organic materials and ecological processes with contemporary and cutting edge styling.
Set up in 2000 as an initiative of Solidaridad, Kuyichi was launched to establish a completely new Fair Trade campaign that is socially and environmentally sound. Stichting Stimulans, with cooperation of producers Oro Blanco (Peruvian cotton farmers), Triodos Bank, and a private investor own an equal share of Kuyichi.
