In 1956, in downtown Carate Brianza, our company - Elettromeccanica Giordano Colombo, was established. The founder, Giordano Colombo, could not imagine that his special motor winding procedure for electric machines and frequency generators would later make the Company a world leader in the production of asynchronous three-phase spindles and frequency converters. Starting its activity in the old and glorious factory in Via Verona, the Company evolved and kept pace with tecnical developments, succeding finally in reaching an international level. To accomodate its expansion, G.C. twenty year later moved to its bigger site in Via Rivera. Because of G.C. exponential growth, any figure demostrating our steady expansion would become immediately outdated. We would like to emphasize that our success depends, first of all, on our committment to innovation. At practical level, our reaearch of innovative findings answers to direct technical problems, but, at a higher level, we are accustomed to plan for a constantly shifting marketplace. G.C. has always kept its eye firmly fixed on market requirements, producing innovative responses to the customer?s needs and expectations. We forecast the future not with the crystal ball but with a steady survey of the global terrain, on which tecnology advances so rapidly. We understand that the only way to gain customer?s trust is by making products of unfailing quality, which exactly meet the required specification and produced and delivered in a timely manner. To reach these goals of customer?s satisfaction, G.C. avails itself of all its human, technological and material resources. G.C. carefully classifies its suppliers in order to respond efficiently to whatsoever type of technical inquiries. Because of its long experience, G.C. rejects any kind of ideas that weakens its superb ability to respond to customer demands. Looking both forward and backward, G.C. responds quickly and prudently to a treacherous marketplace. COMPANY GOALS AND POLICY Quality, short delivery times and reasonable prices are our main goals. These are the premises which regulate our production choices and policies: - keep the quality of products and service as high as possible; - stimulate the market with substantial technological innovations; - foresee the trends and the technical developments of process automation. The force and success of a Company?s policy is inextricably bound up with the capability of the organization to understand its correct policy, to absorb it and to develop it in the best possible way. For the next few years, our Company will focus on two main strategies: - strengthen the G.C. structure; - improve the distribution network and the assisting service abroad. The achieve the first goal, our Company has planned the following interventions: - expand the existing factory space; - purchase machinery that will enhance our production processes; - purchase devices to improve the collection of data information; - purchase software and hardware material for use in designing. For the second goal, we have envisioned the following structures: - regional distributors according to specific market areas; - technical assistance centers that provide customer support, connected with and, in turn, supported by our head office in Italy. In the past three years, G.C.?s activity has been characterized by a large increase in production. This led our Company to continuously develop its technology which, in turn, has resulted in gaining new market areas. Our Company?s cutting-edge technology, as well as its commitment both to its products and customers, confirm our trademarket success which is appreciated throughout the world. Taking a look to our history, one could get the idea not only where we are coming from, but also how much and vast experience we have gathered. Even in its earlier stages, G.C. put in foreground quality and advanced technology but the times when G.C. produced electrical equipment and motors for special uses are long gone. One example of how we learned adaptation, is a motor we produced for edging machines. They were units which, assembled on woodworking machines, where designed to trim the lining border of a board. The production of this unit took its origin from a customer?s requirement in the field of wookworking. G.C. exploited its large experience in electrical equipment and motors and, paying close attention to user?s need, focusing its marketing strategies, and eventually applying the newly available technologies, created a successful product which we still go on developing and improving. New fields are opening up all over; we have entered the field of machining plastic and light alloys, as well as of producing electric spindles used to machine and grind metals and for robotics applications. The results of our branching out have brought us great success in Italy and abroad. Now, one of G.C. brand products dominates the market: our electic spindle is the heart of the machine tool, unavoidable component for its operation.
